NGC 2403
Barred spiral galaxy NGC 2403 resides in the constellation Camelopardalis the Giraffe. NGC 2403 is one of the sky’s brightest galaxies, shining with a magnitude of 8.5. It’s large, however, so that brightness spreads over an area defined by the galaxy’s 25.5’ by 13’ dimensions. Its size, by the way, makes NGC 2403’s area 47 percent as large as that of the Full Moon. (5.6-inch Telescope Engineering Company TEC-140 apochromatic refractor at f/7, SBIG ST-8300M CCD camera, LRGB image with exposures of 240, 90, 90, and 90 minutes, respectively)
